Overview
The Head of Operations plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the day-to-day operational activities of Berwick Care's supply services. The position focuses on ensuring timely, cost-efficient, and high-quality deliveries of products to care homes, fostering a dependable supply chain that supports safe and compliant care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operational functions ensuring smooth process flow and adherence to deadlines.
- Manage procurement from vendor sourcing, negotiating terms, to ensuring delivery quality and performance monitoring.
- Oversee inventory systems to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce waste, and accurately forecast needs.
- Supervise logistics including warehousing, dispatch, and delivery scheduling, while improving cost and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain product quality aligned with care sector expectations.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships, addressing concerns promptly to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Administer operational budgets, identifying cost-saving measures without undermining quality or service.
- Lead and develop the operations team through coaching, clear objectives, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Utilize performance data to drive continuous improvement in service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support business expansion, strategic initiatives, and client onboarding.
Requirements
- Minimum three years’ leadership/management experience with strong people management capabilities.
- At least three years’ experience in procurement and inventory control.
- Good understanding of finance and accounting principles.
- Proficient in supplier negotiations and IT systems such as Microsoft Office and order management software.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Preferable experience in logistics, healthcare or regulated sectors, compliance knowledge, ERP systems, and formal management credentials.
- Full UK driving licence is advantageous.
