About TAILGATE Spirits + Cocktails

TAILGATE Spirits + Cocktails is a founder-led artisan distillery and cocktail kitchen dedicated to crafting premium spirits and ready-to-drink cocktail products. The company emphasizes innovation, strong community ties, and creating memorable brand experiences. As a growing beverage brand beyond the startup stage, it is scaling production and witnessing increasing market demand.

Role Overview

Based in Greater Brisbane, the Head of Sales & Marketing is a full-time leadership role responsible for driving TAILGATE's commercial expansion. This position blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution and requires active involvement in both planning and front-line sales engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and continuously refine a dynamic multi-channel sales and marketing plan.
  • Represent the brand in trade environments such as bars, restaurants, venues, events, and independent retail outlets, building strong relationships and closing sales.
  • Help select and implement the first comprehensive CRM system to manage sales cycles and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Design and deploy brand marketing materials and event activations that boost visibility and sales momentum.
  • Coordinate closely with production and warehouse teams to align sales forecasts with manufacturing schedules and offer insights for product development.

Candidate Profile

  • At least three years of sales and marketing experience in the alcoholic beverage sector with deep route-to-market knowledge and an existing network of venue managers and retail buyers.
  • Experienced in startup or fast-growing brand settings, able to translate strategic plans into actionable initiatives and successful deals.
  • Self-driven with strong organizational skills, capable of managing pipelines independently in a fast-evolving environment.
  • Proficient with CRM tools and familiar with regulatory compliance related to alcohol sales and consumption.
  • Authentic and ethical, able to cultivate effective teamwork and maintain a positive, safe workplace.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, clean driving record, current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification, and availability for occasional evening or weekend events.

Benefits and Opportunities

  • Direct access to company founders and leadership with the chance to shape the company's strategic direction.
  • Autonomy in managing the sales role and opportunities for career advancement as the company grows.
  • Competitive salary package including a vehicle allowance, necessary work tools, and a bonus linked to company performance.
  • Generous staff allowance on premium products and a supportive, celebratory team culture.

Application Process

If you are excited to contribute to a growing brand, submit your resume along with a short cover letter detailing your favourite independent venue and your rationale for why our brand should be featured there.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
