Job description

About the Role

Dragnet Solutions is seeking a senior public sector commercial lead to shape and deliver its strategy for government-facing business. The role focuses on building a strong pipeline, converting major opportunities into revenue, and managing relationships across ministries, departments, agencies, and other public institutions.

This position suits a sales professional with deep experience in government accounts, market access, and stakeholder management across recruitment, assessment, training, identity, and related enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the pursuit of public-sector business opportunities, including government jobs, training assignments, institutional assessments, and related offerings.
  • Create and maintain a well-qualified pipeline with clear owners, timelines, next steps, and commercial priorities.
  • Partner with the Chief Revenue Officer on strategic opportunities that need senior-level involvement to progress or close.
  • Track all public-sector opportunities through the full sales cycle, from lead generation to proposal, negotiation, closure, and handover.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with senior decision-makers, influencers, procurement personnel, and other institutional contacts.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings, presentations, negotiations, and other public-sector engagements.
  • Build named-account plans for priority MDAs and other public-sector targets, with emphasis on budget-backed opportunities that can close within the business year.
  • Keep regular contact with key stakeholders to advance deals and prevent the pipeline from going stale.
  • Work with the CRO, Managing Director, Sales Operations, Product, Finance, and Delivery teams to ensure opportunities are accurately scoped, priced, approved, and delivered.
  • Share regular updates on pipeline health, revenue forecasts, blockers, customer feedback, and support needs.
  • Ensure commitments made to public-sector clients are practical, documented, and executable.
  • Support alignment between commercial targets and operational delivery across teams.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline record showing stage, expected value, win probability, next action, and projected close date.
  • Provide weekly updates on meetings, proposals, negotiations, and deals won.
  • Flag risks early when opportunities are likely to stall, be blocked, or be lost.
  • Monitor revenue delivery against agreed public-sector targets.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related discipline is required.
  • Applicants should have at least 8 to 10 years of experience in sales, business development, public-sector engagement, or enterprise commercial roles.
  • Demonstrated success selling to ministries, departments, agencies, development institutions, or other large public-sector accounts is necessary.
  • A proven history of closing or supporting high-value public-sector transactions is expected.
  • Strong knowledge of government procurement, bid processes, stakeholder mapping, and institutional decision-making is important.
  • Professional connections within Abuja-based public-sector institutions will be considered an advantage.
  • Background in technology, assessment, recruitment, identity, training, compliance, or enterprise solutions will be beneficial.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consistently identify, develop, and convert high-value partnership opportunities into measurable revenue.
  • Open new revenue channels across public sector, enterprise, recruitment, assessment, training, and identity solutions.
  • Build durable relationships with strategic partners and institutional stakeholders.
  • Help achieve commercial growth targets by turning partnerships into actual business outcomes.
