Job description
About Sentient Foundation
Sentient Foundation is dedicated to fostering an open-source future for intelligence, focusing on creating AI that is aligned with human values and managed transparently without control by any single entity. It acts as a neutral steward for the open AGI ecosystem by bringing together researchers, developers, and communities through open research initiatives (e.g., ROMA, OML, Open Deep Search), worldwide programs like the Open AGI Summit, and a rapidly expanding community of builders.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Head of Product who will transform foundational AI research into tangible, publicly accessible products such as agent evaluation platforms, benchmarks, leaderboards, datasets, developer tools, and community-focused launches. This role requires driving ambiguous concepts from inception through to launch, establishing clear user profiles, defining success metrics, producing comprehensive documentation, and facilitating iterative improvements. The position involves collaboration with research, engineering, design, marketing, business development, and community teams. The Head of Product will take full responsibility for the Foundation's product strategy and roadmap, as well as lead the existing Agents & Evaluation (Eval AI) product initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end launches of new products, translating research goals into product specifications, user experience flows, success criteria, and rollout plans.
- Direct the Foundation's product function by setting strategy, defining the product roadmap, and prioritizing initiatives, including managing the Agents & Evaluation product team.
- Serve as the primary product liaison between the Foundation and Sentient Labs' research and product teams, aligning roadmaps and facilitating translation of research outputs into Foundation products.
- Create user-friendly product deliverables like documentation, demonstrations, benchmarks, leaderboards, blog content, and developer workflows.
- Organize and manage developer-facing initiatives such as public challenges, competitions, hackathons, cohort programs, and partner-supported launches.
- Establish feedback mechanisms to gather insights from developers, researchers, partners, and open-source contributors to continuously refine the product roadmap.
- Develop strategies for emergent product areas including agent evaluation frameworks and open-source AI distribution methodologies.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of four years of product management experience in AI/ML, developer platforms, infrastructure, or technical tools, including leadership roles or ownership of product functions.
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring product managers and collaborating as a senior partner across organizational boundaries in research and engineering.
- Demonstrated success in shipping complex, early-stage (0-to-1) products within ambiguous and rapidly evolving contexts.
- Strong technical knowledge of LLMs, AI agents, evaluation processes, benchmarking, or model deployment workflows, enabling effective dialogue with research and engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills focused on translating complex technical information into engaging and accessible product narratives for developers and partners.
- High level of ownership and urgency, adept at coordinating across multiple stakeholders and functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or managing benchmarks, leaderboards, evaluation systems, or open-source program initiatives.
- Familiarity with agent architectures, tool-calling frameworks, safety assessment methods, or AI governance principles.
- Background in product-driven growth, managing developer communities, technical go-to-market strategies, or ecosystem development programs.
- Competence in full-stack technologies (e.g., Next.js, Postgres) sufficient to create prototypes or critically assess product deliverables.
