Role Overview
The Head of Product Management for LIMS/LIS Clinical Diagnostics Europe oversees the complete lifecycle of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS) targeted at Clinical Diagnostics within Europe and other global businesses. This leadership position manages a team of up to six individuals, including Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Functional Analysts. Acting as the business and user advocate, this role balances customer value, technical feasibility, compliance, and cost efficiency, collaborating closely with business stakeholders and IT professionals to ensure strategic alignment, sustainable operations, and measurable product value.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain product vision, objectives, and value proposition aligned with business strategy.
- Create a coherent product roadmap, ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the principal point of contact for the product, gathering and prioritizing business needs and user input.
- Facilitate stakeholder decision-making and communicate priorities, trade-offs, and roadmap updates transparently.
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team, promoting clear ownership, collaboration, and consistent product management practices.
- Manage the product backlog by defining and prioritizing epics, features, and requirements to maximize value.
- Work in partnership with delivery teams to plan and execute product increments, supporting sprint events and ensuring quality delivery.
- Oversee the full product lifecycle from ideation through retirement, coordinating with operations to maintain stability.
- Identify improvement opportunities using usage data, incident reports, and feedback to optimize product value and user experience.
- Assist in financial planning, budgeting, and vendor coordination relevant to the product.
- Provide regular status updates, value and risk dashboards, and participate in governance and steering meetings.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in senior product management or leadership roles within complex IT environments.
- Proven expertise in leading multidisciplinary teams including Product Owners, Business and Functional Analysts.
- Deep knowledge of software and IT product lifecycles from conception through adoption and continuous enhancement.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams comprising business stakeholders, IT professionals, and external vendors.
- Familiar with agile and hybrid frameworks such as Scrum and SAFe.
- Background or experience in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) or healthcare sectors is advantageous.
- Knowledge of LIMS/LIS products or involvement in LIMS system development considered a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of IT systems, integration processes, data flows, ITSM, and delivery tools like ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps.
- Awareness of security, data privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements affecting enterprise IT.
