About the Role

We seek a seasoned Head of Procurement to oversee the entire procurement process for a prominent FMCG manufacturing firm in Zimbabwe. This leadership role demands strategic management of sourcing, supplier relations, and cost control to ensure smooth and cost-effective procurement operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement procurement strategies covering raw materials, packaging, and indirect spend baskets.
  • Oversee strategic sourcing, supplier capability enhancement, negotiation of contracts, and initiatives aimed at reducing expenses.
  • Manage purchasing of food ingredients, edible oils, packaging supplies, home and personal care raw materials, and other indirect goods.
  • Guarantee seamless supply through robust planning, global sourcing, import handling, and mitigation of supplier-related risks.
  • Promote procurement policies, leverage ERP systems, analyze expenditure data, and collaborate cross-functionally with departments like Production, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Finance, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead and nurture the procurement team while achieving quantifiable cost savings and operational improvements.

Candidate Profile

  • Possesses between 10 to 12+ years of procurement experience, inclusive of at least 4 to 5 years in senior leadership positions within procurement.
  • Required background in FMCG manufacturing procurement.
  • Proven experience procuring products such as ketchup, mayonnaise, sauces, condiments, edible oils, margarine, soaps, detergents, and home & personal care items.
  • Skilled in sourcing food ingredients and packaging materials, including PET, HDPE, glass, laminates, cartons, and flexible packaging, in addition to managing international sourcing and imports.
  • Accustomed to organizations with annual revenues ranging from ₹500 to 600 crore or more.
  • Holds a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Commerce, or equivalent; an MBA or CIPS qualification is advantageous.
