Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for a Head of People based in the United Kingdom and is being hired through a partner company that oversees applications and the next steps in the process. The role sits within a fast-moving, globally distributed technology business where the people function needs to scale quickly without losing quality.

As the senior leader for People, you will set the direction for recruiting, people operations, talent development, and organizational design. You will work closely with executive leadership to build the systems, processes, and frameworks needed to attract strong talent, develop employees, and support expansion at scale. The position combines strategic leadership with direct operational ownership across recruiting, performance management, workforce planning, and culture.

The environment is highly data-led, fast-paced, and focused on building strong teams, robust systems, and long-term organizational health.

Key accountabilities

  • Own and grow the end-to-end People function, including recruiting and people operations, for a globally distributed organization.
  • Create and implement a high-performing hiring strategy that keeps access to top talent strong while maintaining a high bar for quality.
  • Work with executive leaders on workforce planning, org structure, compensation planning, and prioritizing headcount needs.
  • Develop and refine frameworks for performance management, leadership growth, and career progression.
  • Improve hiring operations, candidate experience, and recruiter performance through scalable processes and systems.
  • Build reporting and metrics that improve visibility into hiring outcomes and overall organizational health.
  • Introduce automation and AI-supported workflows across recruiting and people operations.
  • Support and evolve company culture so it stays aligned with values and operating principles during rapid growth.
  • Partner with Finance and senior leadership on compensation decisions and organizational investment planning.
  • Coach and grow the People team to drive accountability, strong execution, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in people leadership, recruiting, talent acquisition, or people operations within high-growth technology businesses.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling recruiting functions in fast-paced, talent-dense settings.
  • Strong experience advising executive leaders on org design, workforce planning, and broader talent strategy.
  • Background in managing and developing high-performing people or recruiting teams.
  • Solid understanding of modern recruiting systems, talent operations, and performance management approaches.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to use data to guide decisions and improve processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, stakeholder management capability, and executive influence.
  • Comfort with a hands-on leadership style that moves between strategy and day-to-day execution.
  • Experience working in remote-first or distributed teams.
  • Strong interest in using AI-enabled tools and workflows to transform recruiting and people operations.
  • Experience in SaaS, developer tools, fintech, or similar fast-scaling technology sectors is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive equity in a venture-backed, high-growth technology company.
  • A fully remote setup with flexible working arrangements.
  • Recommended annual time off of 4 to 5 weeks for rest and recovery.
  • Support for home office setup plus an annual learning and development allowance.
  • Long-term equity exercise window of up to 10 years.
  • The chance to shape a global People function at a key stage of growth.
  • A culture built around ownership, high performance, and ongoing improvement.
  • Direct exposure to executive decision-making and company building at scale.

Additional information

This role is listed on behalf of a partner company, which will handle applications and the remainder of the hiring process. The partner uses an AI-assisted matching process to review applications quickly and objectively against the role’s core requirements. The shortlist is then shared with the hiring company, while interviews, assessments, and final decisions are managed internally by that employer.

The hiring process may also use artificial intelligence tools to support resume review, application analysis, response evaluation, and detection of possible inconsistencies or verification signals.
