Overview

This role is being offered by a partner company seeking a Head of Operations based in Brazil. This senior leadership position is designed for an operations specialist who will define and expand the operational core of a global, fully remote financial services firm.

The successful candidate will supervise key operational areas ensuring effectiveness, resilience, compliance, and outstanding service provision while managing cross-functional teams focused on payments, reconciliations, business operations, and digital asset settlement.

The ideal individual is a strategic innovator skilled in operational excellence, process automation, risk oversight, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a comprehensive operational strategy aligned with company goals concentrating on scalability, operational efficiency, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage primary operational departments including payments, treasury, reconciliations, card processing, back-office functions, and overall business operations.
  • Take ownership of operational results by applying performance metrics, controls, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to uphold superior service levels.
  • Lead process enhancement efforts through the adoption of automation, technology, and data-driven solutions including AI applications.
  • Develop and enforce standardized operational procedures to increase consistency, efficiency, and provide operational transparency.
  • Build and nurture a results-driven operations team by fostering accountability, teamwork, and ongoing development.
  • Collaborate closely with compliance, risk management, and financial crime prevention teams to ensure adherence to all regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Establish robust operational risk frameworks covering monitoring, reporting, control mechanisms, and readiness for audits.
  • Work in partnership with technology, data, HR, and client services leadership to maintain organizational alignment.
  • Supervise digital asset settlements, encompassing reconciliation, wallet management, custody safeguards, and crypto-to-fiat operational workflows.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations within regulated financial services sectors such as banking, fintech, or wealth management.
  • Proven track record managing and scaling multiple operational divisions including payments, treasury, settlement, and business operations.
  • Expertise in process re-engineering, operational transformation, automation, and implementing scalable operational workflows.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulatory frameworks, compliance mandates, AML processes, and strategies to prevent financial crime.
  • Experience leading diverse teams and fostering high-performing operational cultures.
  • Strong leadership capabilities coupled with effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strategic thinker able to convert business objectives into effective operational plans.
  • Valuable experience with cryptocurrency, blockchain technologies, or digital asset operational frameworks.
  • Capability to work efficiently in a remote international environment requiring high autonomy and cooperative interaction.
