Our client is a well-established freight and logistics provider with a nationwide presence across New Zealand, operating a multi-site contract logistics network. Known for their reliable delivery performance, the company is focused on enhancing leadership capabilities as it continues to expand.

Role Overview

This leadership position entails full accountability for managing and optimizing the performance of a multi-site contract logistics operation. The role demands ensuring consistent safety standards, superior service levels, and efficient operational outcomes while directing a large leadership team. Additionally, the role supports commercial growth through customer engagement and tender processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end logistics operations across Auckland and Christchurch sites.
  • Ensure consistent achievement of safety, service quality, and operational KPIs.
  • Manage site profit and loss, including cost management and productivity enhancement.
  • Lead and develop logistics leadership teams and their direct reports.
  • Optimize workforce planning, resourcing, and operational outputs.
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with key customers.
  • Participate in solution design and support tender and Request for Proposal (RFP) activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standardize operational procedures.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-site contract logistics or third/fourth-party logistics (3PL/4PL) operations.
  • Direct experience utilizing enterprise Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and system integrations.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop leaders within a complex, multi-location environment.
  • Strong history of meeting service targets, controlling costs, and managing P&L results.
  • Commercial acumen in customer management, contracts, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and tender processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of logistics regulatory compliance, safety standards, and legal requirements.
  • Tertiary education in logistics, supply chain management or business is advantageous but not mandatory.
