Job description

Role Overview

This leadership position is responsible for designing and executing the complete junior talent strategy within Global Markets across multiple regions, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia (excluding Japan). The role focuses on attracting, hiring, developing, and retaining high-potential graduates, analysts, and associates to ensure ongoing organizational growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive talent strategy for junior Global Markets personnel, from attraction to retention.
  • Elevate the employer brand to position Nomura as a preferred destination for top talent.
  • Execute stringent recruitment processes to select suitable candidates with strong potential.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Experience team to offer targeted, skills-focused training that meets current and future business needs.
  • Maintain consistent retention of high-performing employees through focused engagement strategies.
  • Supervise and manage a local Early Careers recruitment team of three recruiters covering various functions within the Asia ex Japan region.
  • Align and coordinate the efforts of all Global Markets recruiters and Talent Management partners internationally to ensure a unified junior talent strategy.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with business leaders and HR partners to anticipate hiring needs and establish scalable talent pipelines aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and ROI metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of talent initiatives.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on junior talent matters, offering strategic advice and market insights to business stakeholders.
  • Innovate talent attraction, assessment, selection, development, and retention practices to accommodate evolving business requirements.
  • Leverage data and market intelligence to evaluate junior talent readiness and accelerate their contribution to business units.
  • Analyze recruitment and retention data, monitor offer acceptance rates, and deliver comprehensive reports to business and HR leaders.
  • Ensure all recruiting and development activities comply with internal policies, regulatory standards, and regional employment laws.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A university degree is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in managing early career or lateral recruitment on a global scale, particularly within Global Markets divisions across geographically diverse locations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and development skills for managing teams.
  • Strong consultative and relationship-building capabilities, capable of establishing credibility and partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to efficiently navigate and influence a range of stakeholders and networks.
  • Results-driven approach with capacity to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize annually various initiatives.
  • Forward-looking mindset to anticipate impacts of new trends in recruitment and talent management.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Positive, adaptable, and team-oriented attitude, ready to take on varying responsibilities proactively.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
