Job description
About The Role
The Head of Finance, FP&A will own company-wide planning, forecasting, budgeting, analysis, and capital allocation across the global business. This is a high-visibility leadership position that works directly with the CFO, executive team, Board, and cross-functional leaders to help define financial strategy, improve performance, and support growth and profitability goals.
Reporting to the CFO, this leader will manage the overall FP&A planning process while also acting as a strategic partner on investment decisions, operating efficiency, scaling the organization, and long-range planning. The scope of the role goes beyond traditional FP&A and includes investor-facing materials, debt and capital structure planning, and finance transformation work that helps build a more scalable and modern finance function.
The right candidate will bring deep experience in FP&A and strategic finance, strong exposure to marketplace businesses, and a history of driving transformation in complex global environments.
Responsibilities
- Own enterprise forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, and monthly business review cycles across the organization.
- Work with the CFO and senior leadership on capital allocation, financial performance, and strategic choices that affect growth, profitability, and operating leverage.
- Prepare reporting and analysis for executives and the Board, turning complex financial and business information into clear recommendations.
- Support investor and lender communications, including Board materials, financing stories, debt analysis, and other corporate finance or capital structure tasks.
- Partner with Corporate Strategy, Accounting, and executive leadership on fundraising, M&A, earnings materials, and other strategic finance efforts.
- Act as a finance partner to business leaders by evaluating tradeoffs, setting priorities, and improving performance across functions.
- Apply a strong understanding of marketplace economics, including transaction-based revenue, unit economics, margin drivers, and operating complexity.
- Lead finance transformation work such as improving planning processes, simplifying reporting, increasing forecast accuracy, and building stronger tools and operating rhythms.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global FP&A team as the company scales.
- Work with Accounting to support month-end close, variance analysis, financial reporting, audit support, and compliance-related activities.
- Design, automate, and improve finance processes and systems for a fast-moving global business.
- Partner with Enterprise Technology and Finance Systems teams on the roadmap for finance systems optimization and implementation.
- Continuously evaluate and improve FP&A structure, processes, tools, and reporting to increase efficiency, shorten cycles, and improve decision support.
- Contribute as a member of the Finance Leadership Team, helping define function priorities, team direction, and talent strategy.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, corporate finance, or a related field, with substantial leadership experience building and managing strong teams.
- Background in marketplace, eCommerce, or transaction-based businesses; experience in SaaS and/or fintech is a plus.
- Strong grasp of transaction economics and the financial and operating complexity of marketplace businesses.
- Experience with investor relations, lender communications, debt workstreams, capital structure planning, or other corporate finance initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading finance transformation in a scaled organization, including process redesign, systems modernization, and operating model changes.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and present effectively to the CFO, CEO, Board, and outside stakeholders.
- Excellent financial modeling and analytical ability, with solid knowledge of GAAP and experience building integrated financial models from scratch.
- Ability to move comfortably between detailed analysis and executive-level storytelling and decision support.
- Strong business judgment, curiosity, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through ambiguity and complex tradeoffs.
- Experience creating and rolling out scalable systems, tools, and planning processes in a global setting.
- Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships across Finance, Product, Technology, Operations, and Corporate Strategy.
- Experience supporting Product and performance marketing teams is a plus, including product investment evaluation, acquisition economics, marketing ROI, CAC/LTV, conversion funnels, experimentation, and digital growth metrics.
- Familiarity with planning and reporting platforms such as OneStream, Adaptive, Salesforce, NetSuite, Qlik, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Public company and/or private equity-backed company experience is strongly preferred.
