Job description

Role overview

Hivemind Capital is seeking a meticulous Head of Finance to lead the full finance function. This position has a strong focus on FP&A, strategic finance, accounting supervision, treasury, tax, and reporting across the management company, funds, related entities, and the wider group.

In this role, you will shape and strengthen the organization’s financial framework by creating scalable systems, embedding durable processes, and improving operational discipline. You will turn complex financial information into practical insights that support major business decisions, while also guiding and developing a growing accounting team. The role covers both corporate accounting and fund accounting, and requires comfort working hands-on with detailed transactions as well as partnering on high-level strategy with senior leadership.

Finance, FP&A, and strategic planning

  • Work closely with firm leadership on budgets, forecasts, liquidity planning, and long-term financial strategy.
  • Lead FP&A activities such as annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, scenario modeling, management reporting, and analysis of business performance.
  • Create financial models and scenarios that inform investments, operating plans, strategic initiatives, group-company planning, and capital-raising decisions.
  • Prepare executive-ready reporting covering performance against budget, cash runway, liquidity, operating KPIs, and upcoming financial risks and opportunities.
  • Support fundraising and capital formation efforts by preparing financial presentations, forecasts, diligence responses, and investor-facing analysis.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership by combining commercial judgment with accounting rigor.

Finance operations, accounting, and controls

  • Design and roll out scalable finance processes, controls, and operating procedures across the organization.
  • Oversee accounting activities for the management company, funds, and affiliated entities.
  • Manage month-end close, reconciliations, and consolidated reporting.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Corporate Accountant and Fund Accountant roles, establishing high standards for accuracy, speed, control, and continuous improvement.
  • Own treasury and liquidity management across both fiat and digital asset environments.
  • Review and support fund financial statements, capital account statements, allocations, and waterfall calculations.
  • Coordinate capital calls, distributions, investor reporting, and related analysis.
  • Review LPAs, side letters, and governing documents to ensure finance operations align with contractual requirements.
  • Support audits, tax work, K-1 preparation, and external financial reviews.
  • Coordinate with outside administrators, auditors, tax advisers, payroll providers, banks, custodians, and other finance service partners.
  • Assess and enhance the finance technology stack, including ERP, reporting tools, and operational systems.
  • Help create, implement, and refine finance policies and operating procedures.
  • Promote the use of AI and automation in finance to reduce manual tasks, speed up reporting, and allow the team to spend more time on analysis and decision support.

Candidate profile

  • At least 6 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, fund operations, or a closely related area.
  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent accounting qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, variance analysis, management reporting, and scenario planning.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, with the ability to review detailed work, understand transaction-level data, and maintain robust financial controls.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, especially in relation to investments and alternative asset management.
  • Extensive experience in fund accounting, ideally in hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, or similarly complex investment settings.
  • Prior exposure to cryptocurrency and digital asset operations is preferred.
  • Experience working with LPAs and other investment governing documents.
  • Familiarity with audits, internal controls, and best practices in financial reporting.
  • Experience managing or overseeing domestic and international payroll processes.
  • Experience leading or mentoring finance and accounting team members, with the ability to set standards, review output, and build scalable processes.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership, board-level reporting, fundraising, investor diligence, or capital planning is preferred.
  • Strong business judgment and a strategic finance mindset, with the potential to grow into broader CFO responsibilities over time.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to numerical accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
