About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned finance professional to lead a comprehensive finance function within a well-established and expanding organisation. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this position combines financial control, strategic planning, commercial analysis, and operational finance duties, offering expansive influence on business outcomes and growth strategies. This hands-on leadership role requires balancing rigorous financial governance with commercial acumen in a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly financial reporting cycle to provide management data, performance evaluation, and insightful financial information to senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting, including sensitivity and scenario analyses to assist decision-making.
  • Contribute financial insights to major contracts, negotiations, proposals, and strategic initiatives, identifying risks, opportunities, and returns.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, liquidity, and working capital to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, oversee risk management, compliance, auditing, and governance frameworks.
  • Supervise operational accounting functions such as profitability assessments, revenue recognition, work-in-progress tracking, cost control, and cash conversion.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to finance systems, reporting protocols, and processes to improve efficiency and transparency.
  • Lead and develop the finance team to foster a high-performing, collaborative environment.
  • Support senior leadership with financial modelling, business cases, investment evaluations, and growth initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant.
  • Minimum of eight years post-qualification experience in an industry setting.
  • Background in complex, commercially driven organisations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with senior leadership and influence strategic enterprise decisions.
  • Experience encompassing audit, tax, financial controls, and governance.
  • Proficient with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central or similar.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and/or FRS 102 accounting standards.
  • Expertise in revenue recognition and operational accounting principles.
  • Experienced with work-in-progress management, profitability analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of cash flow management, liquidity optimization, and working capital control.
  • Commercially savvy with capability to translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
