Role overview
Collingwood Park State School is looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Head of Department - Student Engagement to drive whole-school efforts that strengthen student participation, inclusion, and positive conduct.
In this leadership position, you will collaborate with students, educators, and families to create learning spaces that are safe, welcoming, and inclusive. You will guide the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) team, assist teachers in using proven engagement and differentiation approaches, and support the creation of Individual Behaviour and Safety Plans. By developing strong connections with families and the broader school community, you will help improve wellbeing, engagement, and learning outcomes for every student.

Key duties
The role involves leading the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) team, demonstrating effective engagement and differentiation practices in classrooms, and helping teachers apply evidence-based strategies that support student achievement.
You will also oversee the development of Individual Behaviour and Safety Plans, strengthen relationships with parents and carers, and work with the broader school community to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Drive initiatives that lift student engagement, attendance, behaviour, and academic progress.
- Track student outcomes and apply targeted interventions where needed.
- Form productive partnerships with families, community organisations, and external agencies to support students.
- Use data to guide decisions, assess program effectiveness, and support ongoing improvement.
- Provide strategic direction and manage resources to achieve inclusive, high-quality educational outcomes.
