Role Overview

The Head of Department (Curriculum) plays a critical leadership role within the school's senior management team, primarily focusing on the P-6 educational sector. This position drives instructional leadership aimed at enhancing curriculum delivery, pedagogical methods, assessment moderation, and data-driven improvements. Operating within a rural and remote P-12 context, the role emphasizes collaboration with staff, students, and families to build inclusive learning settings that advance student achievement and well-being, supporting all learners to realize their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate and champion a clear educational vision that sets high expectations and promotes outstanding learning outcomes for all students.
  • Build and sustain an inclusive, equitable school environment through partnerships with students, families, community organizations, and government bodies.
  • Exemplify excellence in teaching and learning by encouraging continuous professional development among staff and upholding rigorous performance standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership centered on continuous improvement and proactive responses to evolving educational priorities.
  • Oversee management of school resources including staff, budget, curriculum, and facilities, while ensuring adherence to legislation, departmental policies, and governance requirements.
