Role Overview
As the Head of Controlling, you will play a critical leadership role in elevating performance visibility across the organization’s product brands. Your responsibilities include overseeing financial management related to Brand & Marketing, Product, Production/Factory, and Sourcing departments, with a focus on modern, data-driven controlling methodologies. You will also serve as the financial business partner to the leadership teams of the B2B and Marketplace sales channels, influencing strategic financial decisions and improving data quality across the value chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a skilled Controlling team of up to five professionals located in Germany and China, aligning their goals with corporate strategy.
- Manage financial controlling of product brands, encompassing product margin transparency, pricing analytics, profitability steering, and marketing performance evaluations.
- Partner strategically with senior leadership to deliver actionable insights fostering profitable growth and operational excellence.
- Ensure accurate product costing, maintain updated standard costs, and promote cost transparency throughout the value chain.
- Collaborate with Production, Factory Management, and Sourcing teams to monitor product cost trends and identify cost-saving measures.
- Support the FP&A Director with budget preparation and forecasting by providing dependable actuals and variance analysis, utilizing integrated planning and reporting tools.
- Work closely with B2B and Marketplace leadership on regular financial analysis and aid in planning and decision-making processes.
- Enhance weekly and monthly business review processes and assist the FP&A team in supplying consistent leadership insights.
- Create intuitive dashboards, promote self-service business intelligence for operational units, and aid in standardizing financial data models for automated, quality reporting.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives in Controlling through automation and AI-driven analytics and contribute to liquidity planning and risk management alongside Finance leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in Controlling within international or multi-brand companies.
- Demonstrated leadership capability in building and nurturing high-performance teams.
- Strong knowledge of product cost accounting, margin analysis, and performance management.
- Proficiency with modern ERP and BI systems such as NetSuite, BigQuery, Superset, Power BI, and Pigment.
- Advanced analytical skills and experience handling complex datasets.
- Experience with digital financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes and automated reporting systems, preferably with AI-enhanced analytic tools.
- Excellent communication abilities and stakeholder management skills with influence at senior levels.
- A degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Economics, or related disciplines.
