Job Purpose

The Head of Compliance plays an integral leadership role within the ASEAN Local Affiliate Management Teams for pharmaceuticals. Reporting to the Asia Pacific Regional Compliance Director in the AbbVie Office of Ethics & Compliance, this position leads and manages the compliance program across specified countries.

Scope and Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the Affiliate Compliance Program for pharmaceuticals in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia, with a possibility of expanding responsibilities to other ASEAN regions.
• Enhance the local compliance program by engaging in collaboration, conducting risk assessments, continuous monitoring, recommending efficient controls, and providing compliance training.
• Manage local compliance policies effectively.
• Advise on local (Pharma, SAPI, Prema) and regional/international industry codes such as IFPMA and government regulations including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
• Lead Compliance Insights Forums in partnership with Affiliate Management Teams to foster a best-in-class compliance culture.
• Support business functions with ethics and compliance advice on complex and routine issues.
• Implement and interpret policies, procedures, and practices across affiliate functions.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments, analyze trends, and propose best practices.
• Develop and coordinate training programs focused on compliance elements including the Code of Business Conduct and relevant policies.
• Organize and participate in regular Affiliate CIF meetings.
• Provide guidance on commercial and medical programs, identifying legal and regulatory issues and proposing solutions.
• Maintain ethics and compliance documentation and databases.
• Engage in local industry group meetings to stay abreast of changes and communicate impacts to management and the regional compliance director.
• Develop and execute monitoring plans to ensure policy adherence.
• Manage internal investigations following the Affiliate Internal Investigations Procedure, coordinating with headquarters as needed.
• Oversee systems for reporting concerns, managing responses, corrective action tracking, and continuous improvements.
• Support compliance audits by managing auditor requests, acting as liaison, addressing findings, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented timely.
• Maintain strong knowledge of AbbVie’s business and client areas served.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Finance, Audit, Compliance, Business, Legal or related fields.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience involving Compliance, Audit, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, or Government Affairs.
• Preferred experience in pharmaceutical, medical devices, or healthcare sectors.
• Demonstrated integrity and customer-focused approach.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to influence diverse stakeholders and adapt to change.
• Effective collaborator in multicultural team environments.
