Job description
Role overview
Rare Candy is a fast-growing, profitable marketplace built entirely for trading cards. The company serves collectors of Pokémon, MTG, Lorcana, One Piece, and other TCGs with AI-powered scanning, collection management tools, and drop experiences designed for buying, selling, ripping, and displaying cards. The team has grown revenue by 10x over the last six months and is now scaling from a strong product into a category leader.
This position sits in the Growth / Marketing department and reports to the Head of Growth. It is also referred to as Senior Growth Manager and may be described as Performance Marketing Lead, User Acquisition Lead, or Senior Growth Marketer.
The role is remote within the US, with preference for candidates based in NYC, Dallas, or Austin. Compensation includes competitive startup pay, meaningful equity upside, and a benefits package that covers health, dental, vision, 401(k), and a wellness stipend. There is also a monthly dogfooding budget for cards.
What the role is about
This is a senior individual contributor position for someone who prefers building and operating growth systems over managing a team. You will run channels directly, write briefs, analyze results, and launch tests yourself. The focus is on efficient customer acquisition, repeat purchase behavior, and performance marketing that is measurable and profitable.
You will own paid media execution, performance creative, lifecycle marketing, and accountable influencer/content programs. The work requires strong attribution hygiene, channel ownership, and practical recommendations grounded in data. The brand and creator voice remain with the content and community team, so collaboration matters more than ownership of brand direction.
Success measures
In the first 30 days, you are expected to take over daily management of existing performance channels, tighten attribution and reporting so the numbers can be trusted, and launch at least one optimization or test that improves performance. You should also begin testing new channels and turn early results into useful insights.
Within the first few months, paid channels should run with a clear and efficient CAC and payback period, influencer and content activity should operate as measurable programs, and lifecycle campaigns should begin improving repeat purchase behavior.
By the end of the first year, you should be running a profitable and measurable growth engine. Paid spend should be held to efficient unit economics, lifecycle should support repeat purchases, influencer and content initiatives should be accountable to results, and the creative you helped develop should be materially driving conversions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage paid growth channels directly and optimize them for efficient CAC and payback.
- Develop and refine performance creative, including concepts, briefs, production direction, and iterative testing.
- Own lifecycle marketing across email, push, and in-app messaging to increase repeat purchases.
- Operate influencer, content, and related growth initiatives as measurable performance programs with tracking and attribution.
- Build reliable growth analytics and attribution so spend, funnel performance, and results can be defended with data.
- Keep multiple growth workstreams moving in parallel without losing momentum or accountability.
Day-to-day working style
Your day may begin by reviewing dashboards and identifying a channel where CAC has risen, then shifting to fresh creative hooks to address fatigue. Midday may involve planning next month’s spend with the Head of Growth, setting up influencer tracking, and ensuring measurement is in place before the program launches. Later, you may run a retention test focused on second purchases, assess how a creative concept lands with the collector audience, and reconcile attribution so weekly reporting reflects reality.
What success requires
You should already be comfortable running growth hands-on rather than overseeing others from a distance. The environment favors builders who can make decisions quickly, work independently, and prove impact through numbers. Since the company is profitable, spending discipline matters and growth must pay for itself.
Application focus
Candidates are expected to share examples of campaigns or growth programs they personally led, including channel details, budget or scale, and metrics such as CAC, payback, or ROAS. Applicants should also be ready to discuss creative testing work, how they evaluate whether growth is truly healthy, and which trading-card or collector communities they know best.
Equal opportunity statement
Rare Candy is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse team. The company emphasizes inclusion across all kinds of collectors and enthusiasts.
