Job description

Role Overview

Electronic Arts builds immersive entertainment experiences for players and fans worldwide, with a culture that values creativity, collaboration, and fresh perspectives. This opening is for a Graphic Designer on the Apex Legends team, focused on producing strong graphic and illustrative work that supports the game’s visual identity across cosmetics, UI, and player-facing experiences.

In this position, you will combine design fundamentals, illustration ability, and visual storytelling to create bold, memorable assets that improve the player experience. You will partner with the Graphic Design Lead, Art Directors, and other teammates, while also working with external partners to uphold the game’s visual standards within a live-service environment.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with the Graphic Design Lead and the core team to create graphic and illustrative assets for Apex Legends.
  • Develop and refine a broad mix of in-game visuals such as banners, holosprays, badges, decals, icons, UI graphics, and other player-facing materials.
  • Support seasonal drops, live events, and evolving in-game content with fresh visual assets.
  • Create high-quality illustrations, thumbnails, sketches, and final production-ready artwork that matches the Apex Legends visual style.
  • Use strong knowledge of composition, typography, color, materials, shape language, lighting, and visual hierarchy in design work.
  • Polish and finalize externally produced content when needed so it meets or exceeds quality expectations.
  • Evaluate outsourced artwork and give clear, practical feedback to external partners to preserve consistency and production standards.
  • Help prepare production briefs, style guides, documentation, and external development processes that support scalable asset creation.
  • Work with production and external development teams on vendor feedback, timeline adjustments, scope changes, and quality issues.
  • Take part in critiques and review sessions, making fast iterations to improve alignment with project goals.
  • Design within gameplay, technical, UI, and production limits so assets are feasible and ready to implement.
  • Keep up with new tools, workflows, and production approaches that can improve creative efficiency.
  • Share knowledge, methods, and best practices to help strengthen the team.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in graphic design, illustration, or a closely related visual design role, ideally in games, entertainment, or a similar field. A strong portfolio is required and should demonstrate excellent graphic design, illustration, and visual communication abilities.

Successful applicants will have a solid grasp of composition, typography, color, lighting, perspective, scale, and visual hierarchy. They should be able to produce polished, production-ready work that communicates design intent clearly and supports gameplay readability.

Experience creating icons, UI graphics, promotional pieces, and in-game cosmetic assets is important, along with strong collaboration and communication skills. Familiarity with external development or outsourced art production is considered an advantage. The role also requires adaptability, strong organization, the ability to manage several priorities at once, and proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma. A willingness to learn new tools, workflows, and emerging technologies is also expected.
