Job description

Role Overview

Electronic Arts is looking for a Graphic Designer to join the Apex Legends team in the Greater Vancouver area. This position focuses on producing striking graphic and illustrative work that strengthens the game’s visual identity across cosmetics, UI features, and other player-facing touchpoints. The role calls for excellent design foundations, illustration capability, and an eye for visual storytelling to help deliver memorable assets that elevate the player experience.

You will partner with the Graphic Design Lead, art direction, and adjacent team members to develop premium-quality visuals, while also coordinating with external partners to uphold the franchise’s established style and quality expectations. The right person will be a clear visual communicator who enjoys teamwork and is motivated by creating refined content for a live service game.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Graphic Design Lead and team members to develop compelling graphic and illustrative assets for Apex Legends.
  • Create and refine a broad range of in-game visuals, such as banners, holosprays, badges, decals, icons, UI graphics, and other player-facing materials.
  • Support seasonal drops, live events, and other evolving content needs through fresh graphic design output.
  • Deliver polished illustrations, thumbnail concepts, sketches, and production-ready assets that fit Apex Legends’ visual style.
  • Apply strong knowledge of composition, typography, color, materials, shape language, lighting, and visual hierarchy in your work.
  • Refine and finalize externally produced assets to ensure they meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Evaluate outsourced work and give direct, actionable feedback to external partners so artistic consistency is preserved.
  • Help build production briefs, style guides, supporting documentation, and external workflow processes for scalable asset creation.
  • Partner with production and external development teams to resolve vendor feedback, scheduling, scope adjustments, and quality issues.
  • Take part in critiques and feedback cycles, making fast improvements based on direction and project goals.
  • Design within gameplay, technical, UI, and production limitations so assets are feasible and ready for implementation.
  • Keep up with new tools, workflows, and production practices that can improve speed and creative iteration.
  • Share knowledge, workflows, and best practices to help strengthen the wider team.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience as a graphic designer, illustrator, or in a similar visual design role in games, entertainment, or a related field.
  • A portfolio that clearly shows strong graphic design, illustration, and visual communication ability.
  • Solid grasp of core design principles, including composition, typography, color, lighting, perspective, scale, and visual hierarchy.
  • Proven ability to produce clean, production-ready work that communicates intent and supports gameplay readability.
  • Strong illustration and graphic design capability across asset types such as icons, UI graphics, promotional pieces, and in-game cosmetic content.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback to multidisciplinary and external teams.
  • Experience working with external development vendors or outsourced art teams is an advantage.
  • Ability to respond quickly to feedback and iterate efficiently in a fast-moving production environment.
  • Strong organization and the ability to manage several priorities at once.
  • Comfort using industry-standard tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new tools, workflows, and emerging technologies that improve efficiency and creative output.
