Job description

About Partly

Partly is building a global platform that makes replacement parts searchable, accessible, and easy to find, beginning with the auto parts market. The company’s aim is to help move the world toward a more sustainable future by reducing waste and improving access to parts for everyone.

Started by former Rocket Lab engineers, Partly uses advanced technology to solve meaningful and technically demanding problems in a massive $1.9 trillion industry. The team has grown rapidly, more than tripling in the last year, and is expected to double again over the next 12 months. It operates as a global business with people across Europe and Australasia.

Partly delivers scalable digital infrastructure to major enterprises and fast-growing startups, supporting hundreds of companies around the world with parts cataloguing and management. The company is backed by investors including Blackbird Ventures, Square Peg, Octopus Ventures, Hillfarrance, Icehouse, Peter Beck, Akshay Kothari, and Dylan Field.

Role overview

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will join a software engineering R&D team to work on important projects with real-world impact. You will contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and delivery of highly scalable products while building your technical depth and learning from experienced engineers.

What you will do

  • Join an R&D team and help deliver a project that creates meaningful impact for customers.
  • Develop your engineering capability through hands-on contribution and learning.
  • Help design, build, test, and ship scalable software solutions.
  • Gain exposure to strong software delivery practices and apply them in your work.

What you need

  • A project you are genuinely proud of and can discuss confidently.
  • Current enrolment in a BS in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  • A strong interest in solving difficult problems.
  • Solid engineering fundamentals.
  • A mindset focused on building maintainable, scalable solutions rather than just applications.
  • Experience working on personal projects outside university.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
  • The ability to work independently and keep learning without constant supervision.
  • Availability to be in Christchurch, New Zealand for the internship period.

Additional information

Partly has offices in London, Christchurch, and Austin. Regardless of where you are based, the company will connect you with the nearest office for onboarding and fly you to quarterly Season Opener gatherings, including travel and accommodation. Relocation support is also available for candidates moving to join the team.

Benefits

  • Fresh, healthy lunches are provided every working day in the company’s Auckland, Christchurch, London, and San Francisco offices, along with snacks and drinks.
  • Each employee receives a yearly wellness allowance of $1,500, or the local equivalent, on a Partly-branded card for wellbeing-related expenses.
  • Primary caregivers are offered three months of fully paid parental leave, plus a flexible return-to-work arrangement of four days on full pay for the first three months back.
  • Employees commuting to a Partly office or co-working space can choose between a paid 24/7 car park or a commute allowance.
  • The offices are newly designed for collaboration, creativity, good coffee, social interaction, and easy access to nearby cafes.
  • Partly follows an office-first approach in cities where it has an office, while still maintaining a high-trust culture that allows flexibility around personal schedules.
  • The team regularly comes together through weekly happy hours, monthly lunches, quarterly season openers, and an annual global offsite.

Relocation support

If you are relocating to Partly HQ from overseas or within the country, a generous relocation allowance is available to help cover the move.

Application note

Candidates who do not match every listed requirement are still encouraged to apply if they believe they can excel in the role.
