Job description
Role Overview
The Health and Safety Advisor at Walls Construction delivers essential guidance and support to managers and staff, helping them meet rigorous safety standards required by the organization. This role is vital in fostering a zero-tolerance culture towards health and safety incidents throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and sustain active collaborations with business units to facilitate the implementation of the Group Safety Management System effectively.
- Engage in selecting qualified personnel for critical safety positions and coordinate with management and trainers to identify and fulfill training needs.
- Establish and oversee risk assessment protocols for creation, approval, communication, enforcement, and monitoring.
- Evaluate procedures related to lifting operations, temporary works, inductions, fire and emergency protocols, permits, and customized safety procedures to assure operational safety compliance.
- Contribute to the formation and maintenance of safety committees.
- Ensure identification and mitigation of risks posed to third parties and other contractors.
- Offer insights and suggestions to enhance the Group-wide Safety Management System continuously.
- Keep informed with current health and safety regulations pertinent to the construction projects and maintain liaison with safety managers, organizations, and industry bodies.
- Lead thorough accident and incident investigations to determine immediate and root causes, implement measures to prevent recurrence, and support strong defense in claim cases.
- Prepare and deliver health and safety performance reports to respective management personnel.
- Communicate efficiently with stakeholders at all levels within the construction sector.
- Maintain professional relationships with directors, operations and project managers, and project teams.
- Advocate for the Group's health and safety capabilities among employees and clients alike.
