Position Overview
Mercer University seeks a Graduate Assistant Coach to support its Cross Country and Track & Field distance programs. This role is tailored for recent collegiate athletes eager to extend their engagement in the sport while working towards a graduate degree. The position provides valuable hands-on coaching experience along with leadership development within a competitive athletics environment.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Assist with coaching the Cross Country and Track & Field distance teams.
- Support training, supervision, and competition preparation activities.
- Participate in team travel to competitions, including weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrate mature leadership and teamwork skills through direct interaction with athletes and staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- Acceptance into Mercer University’s graduate program is required.
- Background as a collegiate athlete, particularly with experience in Cross Country or distance running, is preferred.
- Effective communication, organization, and supervisory skills.
- Willingness and ability to work non-standard hours including weekends and holidays.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to pass university driving certification.
Compensation and Benefits
- Full tuition coverage for graduate school including fees and books.

- A monthly stipend of $125.
