Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive communication strategies that inform media, policymakers, customers, and the public about OpenAI's government collaborations and public-sector projects.
- Create proactive campaigns and highlight case studies demonstrating AI's ability to enhance public services, empower government workforce, and support vital missions.
- Manage communications across important sectors including cybersecurity, biodefense, national security, and science.
- Foster strong connections with national, state, and local government media, technology journalists, policy experts, and enterprise media while handling incoming media requests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Global Affairs, public-sector go-to-market, legal, product, research, safety, and security divisions.
- Advise senior leadership and partners in preparing for interviews, speeches, events, and other public engagements.
- Identify potential communication risks and devise strategies for mitigation and response.
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of seven years’ experience in professional communications and media relations, preferably involving government, enterprise technology, national security, cybersecurity, or biodefense sectors.
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing media campaigns aligned with policy, partnership, or business objectives.
- Strong ability to convert complex technical and policy subjects into clear and credible narratives for external audiences.
- Proven aptitude for building productive relationships with media, executives, government partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Sound political and policy insight, a high degree of ownership, and comfort working effectively in fast-paced, loosely structured environments.
