Role Overview
The full-time, on-location Gold Buyer will be stationed in Kampala, tasked with examining and authenticating gold items by applying recognized testing methods, tools, and industry benchmarks to determine purity, weight, and value accurately. Daily responsibilities involve negotiating buying prices, preparing purchase documents, maintaining comprehensive transaction logs, and ensuring all acquisitions adhere to internal policies and legal mandates. This role requires direct interaction with suppliers and walk-in customers, offering clear explanations of evaluation procedures and upholding high standards of customer care and professional conduct. Additionally, the position includes monitoring market fluctuations, aiding inventory oversight, and cooperating with finance and operations teams to facilitate compliant and efficient trade activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven expertise in accurately assessing and valuing gold and other precious metals using accepted tools and techniques.
- Strong analytical and numerical abilities to calculate weights, purities, and market value-based prices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage professionally with suppliers, clients, and internal team members.
- High integrity, dependability, and a meticulous approach with dedication to ethical trading.
- Basic knowledge of commodity markets, pricing dynamics, and supply chain factors related to precious metals.
- Availability to work full-time on-site in Kampala within a structured and busy trading setting.
- Experience in retail, trading, banking, or roles involving cash handling is advantageous.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, documentation, and record maintenance aligned with company and legal standards.
- At least a secondary school certificate; additional education in finance, business administration, or gemology is beneficial.
- Fluent in English with preference for candidates who can also communicate in local languages.
