Role Overview
The Global Field Service Specialist - HPGR is a technical expert within our global field service team, focused primarily on supporting Grinding PL equipment for capital projects and services. This role involves offering advisory support to Metso's customers, internal personnel, and third-party contractors regarding existing or newly acquired equipment and components. It requires effective collaboration, quick problem assessment, and decisive action.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly prepare and plan field assignments by reviewing scope, drawings, specifications, and policies before arriving on-site.
- Provide guidance during installation, commissioning, and start-up to ensure safety and compliance with contract designs by customers and contractors.
- Coordinate field activities among customers, subcontractors, and Metso teams to maintain schedules.
- Conduct mechanical and process measurements, and gather operational data.
- Advise on operational improvements and efficiency enhancements when appropriate.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and recommend corrective repairs.
- Maintain daily communication with project and field service managers and engineering teams regarding progress and challenges.
- Document job status, delays, problems, changes, and errors accurately and timely.
- Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing project outcomes, challenges, actions taken, and suggested recommendations.
- Ensure proper documentation and client acknowledgment for work progress, delays, and additional tasks.
- Train customer personnel in mechanical and electrical maintenance and proper operation of equipment.
- Assist in marketing efforts related to field services, retrofits, and spare parts.
- Manage travel and expense reports following corporate policies.
- Collaborate with technical support within Metso and deliver technical seminars as needed.
- Train other field engineers and technicians in safe maintenance and repair methods.
- Support continuous improvement and other duties as directed by leadership.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience in engineering or related technical fields with at least 5 years relevant practical experience such as millwright certification, automation, instrumentation, process, electrical or welding.
- A minimum of 3 years performing sitework.
- Experience with installation and mechanical commissioning of HPGR grinding equipment.
- Possession of a valid passport and the capability to obtain an international driver's license.
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and English language skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with HPGR equipment and associated processes.
- In-depth mechanical knowledge of pyro processes and related procedures.
