Job description
Role Overview
This position sits within the engineering and facilities function at Marriott Executive Apartments in Dubai. The role is focused on keeping guest rooms, public areas, and building systems operating smoothly while delivering prompt support to maintenance requests.
Key Duties
- Handle guest repair requests and work directly with guests or customers to resolve maintenance concerns.
- Carry out preventive upkeep on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical-room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually to spot issues early.
- Transport necessary equipment such as tools and radios, and operate all required shut-off valves for equipment and utility systems.
- Track maintenance stock, request parts and supplies when needed, and share daily work updates and issues with other shifts using approved communication methods.
- Use practical knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems, or build that knowledge as needed.
- Perform surface prep, painting, minor drywall repair, wood trim touch-ups, bulb replacements, A/C filter changes, and full cleanup after repair work.
- Test, diagnose, and complete basic fixes for plumbing, electrical items, guestroom devices, televisions, internet-related equipment, switches, outlets, lamps, vacuum cleaners, cosmetic items, and extension cords.
- Carry out Lockout/Tagout procedures before maintenance activities and complete repairs related to interior/exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems.
- Use basic computer functions, including entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperature settings.
Work Standards and Safety
- Follow company policies, safety rules, and security procedures at all times.
- Report maintenance defects, hazards, accidents, and injuries without delay, and complete required safety training and certifications.
- Store flammable materials correctly and keep uniforms and personal appearance neat and professional.
- Protect confidential information and company property.
- Provide courteous service to guests, including welcoming them, anticipating needs, supporting people with disabilities, and thanking them sincerely.
- Maintain quality standards, communicate clearly, build positive working relationships, and contribute to team goals.
- Handle physical tasks that may require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing stairs, using ladders, and moving objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, with heavier items handled with help.
- Use computers to enter and locate work-related information and take on other reasonable tasks as assigned.
