Role Overview
The General Manager of Technical Cooperation will be based in Abu Dhabi and will support the Oilfield Technical Service Company. The role centers on identifying, evaluating, and bringing in new technologies and processes, while building external technical partnerships and converting them into business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive worldwide scouting, assessment, and adoption of emerging technologies and processes, and maintain a database of external technical resources.
- Take the lead on commercial discussions for technical collaboration initiatives such as licensing arrangements, joint research and development, joint ventures, and similar partnership structures, and manage agreement execution.
- Work closely with internal technical specialists to convert sourced technologies into market-ready services or packaged solutions.
- Act as the company representative at international conferences and technical trade shows, while nurturing long-term connections with overseas technology firms and research organizations.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in oilfield services, with a minimum of 3 years spent in technology commercialization, international cooperation, or a comparable business development function.
- Strong command of English for professional use, including the ability to independently analyze technical documentation, negotiate commercial terms, and present confidently in English.
- Energetic, outward-facing, and proactive, with the ability to create and sustain strong professional networks in conference and business environments.
- Well-developed technical judgement and negotiation capability, with the independence to assess technologies and move cooperation agreements forward.
- Breadth across oilfield service disciplines such as drilling, completion, fracturing, production, workover, and digitalization, plus the capacity to learn rapidly and connect knowledge across areas.
- Awareness of emerging global technologies, including low-carbon solutions, intelligent drilling, and new completion tools, with the ability to quickly judge their relevance to the business.
