Overview
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust offers a significant leadership opportunity for a General Manager to oversee strategic and operational functions across the Neonatal Centre and COMET Transport Services. Located in Castle Donington, Derby DE74 2NP, this role demands a visionary and committed leader dedicated to enhancing patient care quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive leadership ensuring safe, effective, and efficient service delivery aligned with health care standards and organisational aims.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve superior patient outcomes and service delivery benchmarks.
- Manage budgets, workforce planning, performance measurement, and service development initiatives.
- Implementation of continuous improvement, governance frameworks, and quality assurance mechanisms.
- Develop and sustain strong collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Drive operational performance, including compliance, risk management, and incident investigation.
- Champion staff wellbeing, professional growth, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Participate in on-call and out-of-hours operational leadership activities as needed.

Person Specification
- Essential: Demonstrate behaviours reflecting the Trust’s values.
- Essential qualifications include a first degree or equivalent experience, extensive healthcare knowledge, and evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Significant healthcare operational management experience with accountability for daily delivery and performance, preferably in acute or urgent healthcare settings.
- Proven success in meeting operational targets and implementing service improvements that benefit patients and families.
- Experience managing workforce and performance processes aligned with HR policies.
- Strong communication abilities tailored to diverse audiences and situations, with skills in negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to analyse complex operational data and financial information to guide decision-making.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrable commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, promoting a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Must be willing and able to travel to multiple sites and participate in on-call rotations.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience within neonatal or paediatric services including transport or critical care.

- Experience communicating complex performance and financial data via formal reporting.
