Specialist Biomedical Scientist

Overview

We are seeking a full-time HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist with proven experience in Histology to join our committed and busy team in Leicester. Applicants must possess the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Histopathology; candidates without this credential must be prepared to pursue and obtain this qualification.

Role Scope and Responsibilities

The selected individual will have the chance to contribute across all laboratory areas, including the core diagnostic division responsible for specimen reception, dissection, and the production of sections through embedding, microtomy, and quality assurance. Additionally, the role includes involvement in specialized units featuring automated immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and enzyme histochemistry.

You must be a motivated and proactive team player capable of prioritizing tasks and working independently with minimal oversight. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, flexibility aligned with the Trust's initiatives to reorganize services and enhance patient care, and the ability to perform accurately and efficiently under pressure are essential.

Note that the department manages a voluntary out-of-hours technical on-call system.
