Overview

Parexel is seeking a seasoned and commercially-savvy General Manager to lead a significant Functional Service Provider (FSP) account in the clinical research sector, operating remotely within the United States. This senior management role encompasses strategic leadership, operational control, financial stewardship, client relationship management, and opportunity identification for business expansion across an extensive clinical research portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategic direction, operational performance, and growth initiatives of a critical FSP client relationship.
  • Define operational priorities and long-term goals aligned with both client expectations and corporate objectives.
  • Develop strong partnerships with senior clients, including executive and C-suite stakeholders, ensuring high satisfaction levels.
  • Chair governance forums and executive business reviews to maintain transparency and alignment.
  • Serve as the principal client liaison post-contract award, managing transition from sales to delivery seamlessly.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of client pipelines, product development, market trends, and strategic priorities.
  • Oversee all service functions within the FSP account to deliver projects timely, within scope, and maintaining quality excellence.
  • Manage resource allocation, workforce planning, and operational efficiencies across the portfolio.
  • Implement and track key performance indicators to monitor delivery quality, productivity, and customer contentment.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency, reduce risks, and optimize outcomes.
  • Resolve operational issues proactively, applying corrective measures as needed.
  • Own overall financial performance including revenue, profitability, budgeting, resource utilization, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with leaders to explore and execute margin improvement strategies.
  • Manage customer contracts and commercial commitments effectively.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders and subject matter experts, fostering a culture of quality and accountability.
  • Champion talent management, succession planning, employee engagement, and continuous development initiatives.
  • Work alongside learning teams to implement training programs and recruit top-tier talent.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to broaden service offerings and deepen client partnerships.
  • Support business development through proposal leadership, RFP responses, and client presentations.
  • Represent the company at industry events and customer engagements.
  • Drive operational enhancements, process optimization, compliance adherence, and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive leadership background in clinical research organizations, pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare research environments.
  • Proven expertise managing large, distributed teams in complex matrixed settings.
  • Experience managing strategic client relationships at executive levels.
  • Strong financial skills including budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and resource planning.
  • Track record of improving operational efficiency in complex, multi-faceted business units.
  • Involvement in business development and client proposal support.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Healthcare, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced degrees (MBA, MS, PharmD, PhD) and extensive FSP leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in global clinical development and operational practices across broad therapeutic areas.
  • Familiarity with clinical research technologies including CTMS, EDC, EDMS, IWRS/IRT platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
