Role Overview

We are seeking a General Accountant to support our Finance and Administration team by managing daily accounting functions. This role reports directly to the Finance Director and involves a broad range of responsibilities including billing, accounts payable, payroll, and additional accounting support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complete billing cycles covering fees, sub-consultants, and disbursement charges.
  • Create and update billing details within ERP systems and associated tools.
  • Collect and systematically organize project-related expense receipts.
  • Prepare monthly billing reports and conduct project and billing reconciliations.
  • Issue invoices and client account statements adhering to monthly schedules.
  • Review, code, and process vendor invoices for payment.
  • Evaluate employee expense reports with accompanying documentation.
  • Maintain well-organized electronic filing systems for invoices and payment records.
  • Support monthly reconciliations of corporate credit cards.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, monitoring timesheet completion via the ERP system.
  • Input payroll information into Desjardins payroll software and process employee reimbursements.
  • Maintain schedules and documentation for fixed assets.
  • Assist with accounting tasks related to month-end and year-end closings.
  • Perform various administrative and accounting duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and conditional formatting.
  • Between 2 to 5 years of practical accounting experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively while communicating clearly with team members and other stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach to work.

Compensation

The annual salary ranges from $50,000 to $55,000 on a pro-rated basis.
