Job description
Position Overview
Voyago is currently seeking a dedicated Full-Time Patient Transfer Attendant based in the Kitchener region to safely transport patients between healthcare facilities, nursing homes, and private residences using stretchers or wheelchairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the secure and careful transfer of patients via stretcher or wheelchair to and from medical or residential locations.
- Deliver exceptional customer care and provide clear, effective communication throughout the transport process.
Working Hours and Compensation
- Full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, with shifts potentially lasting up to 12 hours each day.
- Compensation is set at $19.50 per hour.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current certification as a First Responder or AEMCA, or active progression in a Paramedic Diploma program (completion of first year required), or Firefighter status with Emergency Medical Responder certification.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or an equivalent qualification.
- A valid G class driver's license and a clean driving record, demonstrating safe driving abilities.
- Physical capability to lift at least 250 pounds using equipment such as a stretcher or stair chair, when partnered with another operator.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and vulnerable sector screening.
- Maintained immunization records, including MMR, DPT, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 (minimum two doses), and a Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test conducted within the last 12 months.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a post-secondary diploma.
