Role Overview

We seek a highly organized and service-oriented Dispatcher to oversee scheduling and deployment of crew members to healthcare institutions and private homes across our service regions. Acting as the main communication link among clients, crew, and stakeholders, this role guarantees prompt, safe, and efficient non-urgent transport services while supporting operations in a busy, high-volume environment. Success in this role requires precision, multitasking, effective communication, and delivering outstanding customer service in a dynamic context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and dispatch field units, medical escorts, and personnel to ensure quick, safe, and efficient service, properly allocating resources for specialized rides and patient transfers.
  • Receive, assess, and process ride and transfer requests from various channels such as email, phone, and fax coming from emergency services, medical and long-term care facilities, clients, and patients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Evaluate caller information to determine urgency and prioritize dispatching resources, guaranteeing prompt service for high-priority transfers while maintaining efficiency for routine requests.
  • Use computer-assisted dispatch systems to log service requests accurately and assign appropriate units and personnel according to operational needs.
  • Maintain effective communication within the dispatch team and with the Director of Field Operations (DFO), providing real-time coordination and operational continuity throughout shifts.
  • Document operational activities including incidents, delays, specialized transfers, complaints, and crew transfer reviews, reporting accurate data to leadership as needed.
  • Follow organizational policies and professional standards, including confidentiality, data protection, procedures for vulnerable persons, health and safety, ongoing learning, and keeping the work area orderly.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dispatch, customer service, or related roles, with a proven dedication to outstanding customer care.
  • Strong abilities in organization, time management, and juggling multiple priorities in fast-paced situations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to engage professionally with clinical staff, patients, crew, and other stakeholders.
  • Capacity to stay calm and professional under pressure, handling urgent cases and changing priorities with composure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, promoting respect, inclusivity, and positivity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Experience with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Background in emergency or non-emergency medical transport.
  • Knowledge of local geographic areas and road networks within service coverage.
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline.

Employment Conditions

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry, and Child Abuse Registry.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Work Schedule

Working on a rotating schedule of 4 days on followed by 4 days off, with each shift lasting 12 hours.

The position is full-time with a permanent status and offers an hourly wage of $20.16.
