Role overview
Salthill Hotel is looking for a professional, energetic Receptionist to become part of its Front Office Team in Galway. In this role, you will be the first person guests meet, setting the tone with a welcoming approach and delivering smooth, courteous service from arrival to departure. The position represents the hotel’s commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and high standards.
Key responsibilities
- Greet arriving guests and complete check-in and check-out tasks efficiently.
- Answer calls, respond to emails, and handle guest questions in a prompt and polished manner.
- Deal with guest concerns, complaints, and feedback respectfully and effectively.
- Make sure email enquiries are progressed and any assigned follow-up tasks are finished.
- Keep service standards strong during peak arrival and departure times.
- Identify opportunities to support sales while maintaining excellent front desk service.
- Take responsibility for emergency procedures during your shift, including the hotel fire panel.
- Work closely with other hotel departments, sister properties, and central office teams.
- Process billing, invoices, and financial transactions with accuracy.
- Accept or redirect deliveries and manage correspondence at reception.
- Help ensure compliance with Covid-related guidance and internal hotel policies.
- Support management actions related to guest reviews and feedback improvement.
- Log maintenance concerns and follow through to help achieve timely resolution.
- Attend Front Office meetings when needed.
- Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Front Office Manager.
Experience and skills
This role requires at least 1 year of hotel reception experience. You should bring strong people skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to stay calm while balancing multiple tasks at once. Clear verbal and written communication, strong organisation, attention to detail, and solid IT and administrative ability are all important. A professional phone manner and fluent English are essential. The position also requires flexibility to work shifts across a 3-over-7 schedule and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
