About the Organization

Sozialkontor supports people with disabilities and people living with mental health conditions so they can lead a self-determined life. Its services include everyday assistance and support for participation in community life, neighborhood meeting points, housing services, care, therapy, after-school care, and educational programs.

Role Overview

If you have just finished school and want time to think about your next steps, or if you already have work experience and are looking for a change, an FSJ or BFD with Sozialkontor can give you practical insights and help you discover whether a social profession suits you.

Your placement can be in the areas of care and pedagogy across many of the organization’s residential and support services for people with physical or intellectual disabilities.

FSJ or BFD Eligibility

An FSJ is available for applicants under 27 years of age. For people aged 27 and above, the Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD) is the appropriate option.

Key Tasks

  • Support and accompany service users during leisure activities
  • Assist with individual and in-house recreational activities

Candidate Profile

  • Open-minded, empathetic, and genuinely interested in working in disability support
  • At least 17 years old and have completed compulsory full-time schooling
  • Living in Hamburg or the surrounding area
  • Available for a volunteer service lasting 6 to 18 months
  • German language skills at B2 level

Compensation is provided as pocket money, travel-cost support, and a housing allowance.
