Job description
About Perle
Perle is an AI infrastructure company that creates expert-led training datasets, evaluation frameworks, and applied AI tools for major laboratories and enterprise clients. With its headquarters in San Francisco and specialists working across more than forty markets, the company focuses on tasks that depend on genuine human judgment, including subject-matter expertise, language precision, and cultural context that standard data providers often miss.
Perle is seeking a freelance transcriptionist who is fluent in Oromo for a remote, paid contract assignment. This opportunity is open to qualified contributors worldwide.
Role Overview
In this role, you will work with two-speaker, channel-separated Oromo audio files. Your task is to convert each recording into a clear, accurate transcript in sequence, with the correct speaker labels and timestamps.
What You Will Do
- Review Oromo audio recordings featuring two separate speakers.
- Transcribe everything spoken by each participant with complete accuracy.
- Mark each turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2 in line with the audio channel.
- Insert timestamps at the beginning of every turn using the HH:MM:SS format.
- Keep the transcript in proper order without any unexplained breaks or gaps.
Requirements
- Native-level or near-native ability in Oromo, both spoken and written.
- Excellent Oromo writing skills, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Self-directed working style with the ability to meet daily output goals.
- A computer and a reliable internet connection.
- Availability of at least 4 hours per day.
- Previous transcription work is helpful but not mandatory; every contributor must successfully complete a qualification test.
Quality Standard
- Delivered transcripts must maintain a word error rate of 5% or lower.
- Speaker labels must be perfectly accurate, with Speaker 1 always aligned to Channel 1.
- Submissions are checked continuously, and feedback is shared quickly.
- Any file that falls below the required quality level will be sent back for revision.
