Job description
About Perle
Perle is an AI infrastructure company that creates expert-led training data, evaluation systems, and applied AI products for top research labs and enterprise clients. Based in San Francisco and supported by specialists in more than forty markets, the company focuses on tasks that depend on human judgment, including subject-matter expertise, language precision, and cultural accuracy that broad data vendors typically cannot provide.
Perle is looking for a Burmese-fluent freelance transcriptionist to support a remote transcription project. This is a paid contract opportunity open to qualified contributors worldwide.
Role overview
You will work on Burmese audio files with two speakers on separate channels. The task is to convert each recording into a polished, accurate transcript in the correct sequence, with speaker labels and timestamps included.
What you will do
- Carefully listen to Burmese recordings featuring two distinct speakers
- Transcribe everything said by each speaker without omitting content
- Mark each turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2 according to the matching audio channel
- Insert timestamps at the beginning of every turn in HH:MM:SS format
- Keep the transcript in order and avoid any unexplained missing sections
Requirements
- Native-level or near-native command of Burmese in both speaking and writing
- Excellent written Burmese, including proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet daily output expectations
- Access to a computer and a reliable internet connection
- Availability of at least 4 hours each day
- Transcription experience is helpful but not mandatory; every contributor must clear a qualification test
Quality standards
- Delivered transcripts must stay within a 5% Word Error Rate or better
- Speaker labeling must be perfectly accurate, with Speaker 1 always aligned to Channel 1
- Work is checked continuously, and feedback is shared quickly
- Any file that does not meet the required quality level will be sent back for correction
Project details
- Language required: Burmese
- Project type: Manual audio transcription
- Time commitment: At least 4 hours per day, with a remote and flexible schedule
- Start timing: As soon as the contributor qualifies, with rolling onboarding
Application process
Applications are submitted through Perle's platform. Candidates must complete a short qualification task consisting of a 5-minute Burmese audio transcription sample. Those who pass the assessment are onboarded right away and assigned production work.
Equal opportunity
Perle states that it is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds.
