Role Overview
Newsweek is looking for a U.S.-based Freelance Social Media Associate to provide weekend coverage through a three-month contract. This position suits individuals who excel in fast-paced digital settings and enjoy engaging diverse audiences on various social media platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and publish content across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads, WhatsApp, Reddit, and LinkedIn.
- Create and schedule at least four posts each hour, working closely with editorial teams to ensure the content is timely and accurate, thereby driving engagement, referrals, and monetization.
- Engage with the audience by monitoring comments and trends, responding appropriately to nurture community interaction.
- Work with editors to highlight breaking news and trending stories during weekend hours in real-time.
- Track performance metrics of weekend posts and report insights to the social media team.
- Focus on increasing weekend social referrals and monetization by crafting engaging content for Newsweek's active readers.
- Maintain brand voice, editorial standards, and visual identity in all social posts.
- Collaborate with editorial and digital teams to ensure social strategies are aligned with newsroom goals.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience managing social media accounts for brands, publications, or organizations.
- Deep familiarity with social media platforms, current trends, and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and exercise quick editorial decision-making.
- Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Availability to work on weekends as required.
- Residency within the United States since the position is remote but must be US-based.
Compensation
The hourly wage ranges from $20 to $30, depending on experience.
