Role overview
BSBI School of Business and Innovation in Berlin is looking for a freelance lecturer to support teaching and/or research supervision in General Management, Strategy and Leadership. The role is part-time and based on an hourly freelance arrangement, offering flexibility while following the same academic standards as full-time faculty.
The lecturer acts as the main academic lead for the assigned module, course, dissertation, project, or internship and may be engaged across campuses and faculties.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver scheduled teaching sessions for assigned academic modules in line with the curriculum and agreed timetable.
- Update existing course content or develop new curriculum material when needed.
- Prepare learning resources such as presentations and other supporting study materials.
- Guide, advise, and mentor students throughout their academic work.
- Help students build the skills needed to meet course objectives and learning outcomes.
- Support students with formative and summative assessment preparation.
- Maintain clear communication with students and provide regular learning feedback.
- Promote the institution through academic engagement and thought leadership activities.
- Track student progress and support learning in classroom, laboratory, internship, or project settings.
- Supervise dissertations, projects, and internships according to required standards.
- Take part in school activities as assigned by the Dean of Faculty and/or Chief Academic Officer.
Additional tasks
- Run teaching sessions and mentor students toward expected learning outcomes.
- Prepare assignment and assessment task descriptions.
- Carry out examination and evaluation-related work.
- Develop study materials and related supporting resources.
- Handle any other academic duty that is mutually agreed and assigned.
Requirements
- PhD or an equivalent qualification, backed by academic or practical expertise in the relevant field.
- Strong command of practical tools and methods relevant to the subject area, where applicable.
- Good working knowledge of Windows and the MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in spoken and written English at C2 level.
- Strong organisational and communication abilities.
- High interpersonal competence and the confidence to take initiative.
- Ability to stay organized and effective under heavy workloads.
- Resilient, adaptable, and flexible in approach.
Preferred background
- Publications in a relevant academic discipline.
- Previous teaching experience in higher education or university settings.
- Professional experience in the subject area.
- Familiarity with learning platforms such as Canvas or Blackboard.
- Good understanding of academic regulations and study rules.
