Job description
About the team
Shopee’s Regional Marketplace Operations team works on solving operational challenges and rolling out practical improvements that make the platform easier and safer to use for buyers, sellers, and partners.
The group sits close to the company’s core processes and partners with multiple departments to manage end-to-end e-commerce workflows. Its focus is on building scalable approaches that create impact across different markets, while continuously strengthening policies, processes, and product features for better operational performance.
Regional Operations covers Customer Service, Payment, Listings, Seller Operations, Returns & Refunds, and Fraud.
Role overview
This position is focused on protecting the platform and its users by strengthening fraud monitoring and prevention. The analyst will handle daily fraud operations, look for emerging abuse patterns, and help design better methods to detect and stop dishonest activity.
The role also involves setting performance measures, studying trends, uncovering new fraud methods and behaviours, improving operational scale, and helping develop tools or workflows that support fraud prevention across the business.
What you'll do
- Track platform risks and assess activity to help stop fraudulent behaviour.
- Build clear performance metrics and create detailed reporting frameworks and dashboards.
- Work with teams across the business to analyse issues and turn findings into recommendations for multiple markets.
- Review data to spot opportunities for process or system improvement, then help drive new initiatives.
- Assist the fraud team with new programmes and ad hoc work related to fraud defence.
- Prepare management reports and presentation materials for recurring leadership updates.
- Spot possible gaps in systems or processes early so fraud incidents can be reduced and attacks can be addressed quickly.
What we're looking for
- A genuine interest in fraud detection and prevention within e-commerce.
- Strong investigative thinking, with curiosity about how processes work and why outcomes happen.
- Background in project management and process improvement.
- Experience working with datasets to generate insights and practical recommendations.
- Ability to interpret data effectively; familiarity with SQL, Python, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and good task management skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-changing, collaborative setting to support business goals and deliver impact.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills for cross-functional work.
- Motivation to design and implement new approaches that improve results.
