Role Overview

This opportunity is for aspiring franchise store owners who are passionate about retail leadership and eager to guide stores with vision and impact within their communities. The Franchisee in Training program provides comprehensive, hands-on experience under seasoned operators to prepare individuals to independently operate a Giant Tiger store, with primary focus in the Prescott-Coborg, Ontario region and surrounding areas.

Work Conditions

  • Candidates must be available for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
  • The role requires travel within the designated region, including occasional overnight stays at the Ottawa Home Office and visits to other stores.
  • Work is typically conducted within 100 kilometers of the assigned store, unless transferring outside the region after program completion.

Training and Development

  • Complete all training modules and projects associated with the Franchisee in Training program.
  • Participate in formal mentorship sessions focused on developing entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
  • Engage in practical in-store experiences by shadowing existing franchisees across Canada.

Key Duties

  • Manage store operations under guided supervision.
  • Lead and support staff teams effectively.
  • Handle administrative tasks including reporting.
  • Foster strong community engagement through active participation and customer interaction.

Candidate Requirements

  • Completion of a university or college diploma in Business Administration, Retail Management, Operations, or comparable experience in retail.
  • At least three years in a retail environment, with minimum one year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven ability to coach, lead, and adapt leadership style to team needs.
  • Strong basic computer proficiency and eagerness to use new systems aligned with Giant Tiger's procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, capable of clear idea exchange and active listening.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A commitment to community involvement demonstrated through participation in relevant initiatives or organizations.
  • French language proficiency required in French-speaking provinces or regions.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and enhance sales performance.
  • Skills in visual merchandising.
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar workforce management platforms.
  • Bilingual in English and French is a notable asset.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary ranging from $74,500 to $111,800, based on experience and skills.
  • Bonus program offering 16% of eligible earnings upon successful completion of the training program without performance contingencies.
