Role overview

This is a steady full-time opportunity at a school cafeteria in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The position is centered on preparing and serving meals, keeping the work area sanitary and organized, and helping the kitchen run smoothly in support of students and staff. What you will do

• Prepare and serve food by following recipes, production records, and safety guidelines.
• Keep the kitchen and serving areas clean, safe, and orderly throughout the day.
• Replenish serving lines, salad bars, and milk coolers as needed.
• Handle food storage, rotation, and sanitation tasks according to proper procedures.
• Serve meals to students, staff, and visitors in a polite and professional way.
• Receive deliveries and help sort, store, and organize inventory.
• Sweep, mop, and remove trash when required.
• Follow all applicable local, state, federal, and company health rules.
• Support coworkers, cover shifts when needed, and step in wherever the kitchen team needs help.
• Complete reports and other assigned tasks within required deadlines.
• Take on additional duties that contribute to the school meal program and overall kitchen operations.

What we are looking for

• Prior experience in food service or cleaning is an advantage, though not mandatory.
• A strong work ethic and a cooperative attitude are important.
• Comfort with repetitive duties and working within a structured routine.
• Basic arithmetic and computer literacy.
• Ability to clear a background check and fingerprint screening.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
• Interest in working around children and being part of a school environment.
• Professional, respectful, and inclusive behavior with coworkers and customers.

Work environment and physical demands

This role requires standing for the full shift and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. The job also involves regular bending, reaching, walking, and frequent use of the hands. Work takes place in a fast-moving kitchen with moderate noise and continuous activity.

Schedule

The schedule is full time, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended weeks. Participation in company events or meetings may also be required.
