Job description
About Avoca
Avoca runs 13 stores nationwide and blends long-standing traditions with a forward-looking approach. The brand is known for its award-winning foodhalls, restaurants, and food markets, offering artisanal ingredients sourced from both local and international suppliers.
Role Overview
Avoca is hiring a full-time, permanent Team Lead for the Dunboyne Foodhall. This position supports the wider management team and steps into a leadership role within the department when a manager is unavailable. The role includes helping with the daily operation of the foodhall, handling opening and closing tasks, and assisting the store management team in a variety of ways.
Key Duties
The Team Lead will be expected to manage cash-related processes, support break scheduling for employees, respond to customer queries, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the store. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the food sector and a strong record of taking on responsibility.
Customer Service
Customer care is central to the role. You will need to treat shoppers with courtesy and respect, maintain high service standards, and handle complaints in a calm and appropriate manner by escalating issues when needed.
Cash Handling and Store Procedures
Responsibilities include end-of-day cash reconciliation, reporting, safe counts, and cash drops. You will also be expected to carry out opening and closing duties according to the line manager’s instructions, while showing teamwork and reliability during shifts when management is not present.
Sales Support
The role also involves suggestive selling, offering alternatives when products are unavailable, sharing product information, and encouraging customers to continue browsing. You will process payments and manage refunds professionally, especially where faulty items or similar issues need to be resolved.
Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate strong customer focus, good time management, teamwork, and flexibility. The role may require roster changes, cover for short-staffed shifts, and work across different areas of the store when needed.
Benefits
Avoca offers a range of employee benefits, including a pension scheme, professional development opportunities, an employee assistance programme, referral bonus, family-friendly policies, life assurance, cycle-to-work support, health and wellness programmes, and competitions and incentives for staff.
Equal Opportunities
Avoca is an equal opportunities employer.
