Compensation
The wage for this position is $15.00 per hour. A $500 new hire bonus is also offered.

This job is based inside a jail or correctional facility in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Role Summary
The Food Service Worker supports food preparation and meal service in a correctional setting. The position involves supervising inmate labor and/or other team members, preparing and serving menu items according to instructions, and using kitchen tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee inmate labor and/or kitchen staff during food preparation and meal service.
- Assist with or direct the preparation of meals according to menus, recipes, and work instructions.
- Store food correctly and maintain sanitary handling practices.
- Serve meals according to scheduled service times and established procedures.
- Use kitchen utensils and equipment to prepare, cook, and portion food appropriately.
- Follow food safety rules covering sanitation, storage, and handling.
- Help train other food service workers.
- Keep refrigerators, freezers, cooking tools, and serving equipment clean.
- Follow the facility’s uniform requirements.
- Collect trash regularly and keep floors free of food debris.
- Maintain a clean prep and serving area through sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing.
- Check that portions and serving utensils are used correctly.
- Support a safe and healthy workplace for employees and inmates.
- Handle physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for long periods.
- Remain on your feet for much of the shift.
- Complete additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience in an institutional food service setting or restaurant is preferred.
