TKC Holdings, Inc. is hiring for a food service role in Macon, Georgia, within a jail/correctional facility. Role Summary

This position is centered on supervising inmate labor and/or other team members while supporting the food service operation in a correctional setting. The job also involves preparing and serving food items accurately and efficiently, following assigned instructions, menus, and food safety standards. The role includes the use of kitchen tools and equipment for cooking, preparation, and service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inmate labor and/or kitchen staff during food preparation and meal service shifts.
  • Guide, support, or train staff and inmate workers in preparing food according to menus, recipes, and work instructions.
  • Make sure food is stored correctly and maintained in a sanitary condition.
  • Serve meals according to scheduled times and department procedures.
  • Use kitchen utensils and equipment to prepare, cook, and serve food in line with recipes and portion requirements.
  • Follow all rules related to sanitation, safe food handling, and food storage.
  • Help train other food service workers as needed.
  • Keep the work area clean, including refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment.
  • Follow the facility’s uniform requirements.
  • Manage trash removal and keep kitchen floors free of food debris and waste.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen through sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing.
  • Check that portions and serving utensils are being used correctly.
  • Help maintain a safe and healthy workplace for staff and inmates.
  • Be prepared for physical work such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for long periods.
  • Remain on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.
  • Take on other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Previous experience in institutional food service or restaurant work is preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly and handle multiple tasks.
  • Dependability and a willingness to learn are important.
  • Comfort working in a correctional facility environment.
  • Physical capability to perform extended standing and manual kitchen tasks.

Benefits and Compensation

The role pays $15.00 per hour and includes a $500 new hire bonus. Eligible regular full-time employees can access medical coverage with prescription benefits, dental, vision, basic life insurance, basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and optional voluntary benefits such as short- and long-term disability. Additional employee support includes paid time off, company matching for the 401(k) retirement savings plan, a medical-plan benefit credit of $750 per year paid evenly across paychecks, and DailyPay access to earned wages.
