Job description

Overview

This role is part of Alberta Health Services’ Nutrition Food Service team, which supports patient-, resident-, staff-, visitor-, and community-focused meal service. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to care in a supportive environment while helping maintain high standards for food quality and service.

What you will do

In this position, you will handle routine food preparation duties following AHS standards and procedures. Work may include packaging and portioning menu items, preparing foods according to established guidelines, serving meals to patients and other customers, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables, and service areas.

Working conditions

This job is physically demanding. You must be able to lift food, supplies, and equipment up to 46 lbs, push or pull meal carts up to 250 lbs, and remain on your feet walking and standing for the full shift.

Pay

The posted wage range is $22.05 to $23.69 per hour.

Qualifications

You should have completed Grade 10 or an equivalent level of education. The role also requires the physical ability to meet the lifting, pushing, standing, and walking demands of the job.

Preferred background

Experience in customer service, food service, hospital or long-term care settings, inventory control, receiving deliveries, expiry-date tracking, waste reduction through first-in-first-out practices, and work with industrial food service equipment is an asset. A Food Safe Certificate or equivalent, along with WHMIS training, is also preferred.
