Job description

Overview

The Service Continuity Coordinator (SCC) for Medical Affairs plays a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted physician service delivery within their designated geographic area. This position involves assessment of service risks, collaboration with operational teams, and the development and maintenance of contingency plans to address physician staffing challenges, on-call scheduling, and crisis situations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily service risks impacting physician availability and operation continuity.
  • Coordinate physician on-call schedules and anticipate service coverage gaps.
  • Collaborate with Medical Leadership to secure locum coverage and workforce contingency plans during disruptions.
  • Partner with the area Operations team to track operational issues such as staffing shortages, supply and maintenance concerns.
  • Develop strong relationships with rural site leaders and provincial leaders to synchronize disruption mitigation strategies.
  • Support onboarding and orientation for new physicians to facilitate smooth integration.
  • Pursue continual improvement opportunities to enhance workflow efficiencies within Medical Affairs.

Location and Work Conditions

This position is based primarily at the AHS Michener Bend location within Alberta's Central Zone but eligible for hybrid on/off site work arrangement. The role is full-time with a 1.0 FTE, day shift schedule consisting of 7.75 hours per shift, 10 shifts in a two-week cycle, with weekends off.

Remuneration

The compensation ranges from $31.64 to $54.36 per hour.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health, business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Alternatively, completion of high school plus at least four years of progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • Proven knowledge of Alberta Health Services systems, policies, legislation, and information management systems.
  • Proficiency with standard office software such as Outlook, Excel, and Word to handle communications and data management effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills supported by understanding of political sensitivities and stakeholder interests.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in medical affairs or direct collaboration with physicians.
  • Formal training or certification in change management, project management, or quality improvement methodologies.
  • Additional diplomas or post-secondary credentials relevant to the role.
  • Prior experience with medical affairs administration is considered an asset.
