Food Service Attendant

Position Overview

This permanent role is based in a rural coffee shop environment in Happy Valley–Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. Candidates will engage in various food service and cleaning tasks in a fast-paced setting, with work hours ranging between 32 and 50 hours weekly. No prior educational qualifications or experience are necessary, as training will be provided.

Key Duties

• Deliver clean dishes, flatware, and other tableware to serving locations and set tables appropriately.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dishwashing equipment, mats, carts, and waste disposal areas.
• Clear and clean tables, trays, and seating after customer use.
• Operate dishwashers for cleaning dishes, glasses, and flatware, and store them correctly.
• Replenish condiments and supplies at tables and service areas.
• Manually clean dishes and scrub pots and pans.
• Keep inventory records of food consumption.
• Package takeout orders and prepare simple food items by heating or finishing.
• Serve customers at counters or buffet tables and handle food portioning and wrapping.
• Stock refrigerators and salad bars with fresh items.
• Take customer orders accurately and operate electronic cash registers.
• Use manual and electric appliances to prepare food materials by cleaning, peeling, slicing, and trimming.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment, including work surfaces, storage, appliances, and equipment.
• Handle cleaning products safely and manage waste removal tasks.
• Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors regularly to maintain tidiness.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• This role is physically demanding, requiring standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks in a busy setting.
• Candidates must be able to handle weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
• Efficiency under pressure and strong attention to detail are essential.

Equipment Experience

• Experience or willingness to operate electronic cash registers, food dispensers, and grills.

Transportation

Applicants must have their own transportation to the workplace.
