Position Overview
Abbott Nutrition in Cootehill, Ireland, invites an experienced professional to lead Food Safety and Compliance efforts at its largest global powder manufacturing site. This leadership role involves guiding food safety excellence, maintaining regulatory compliance, ensuring audit preparedness, and fostering continuous improvements while managing a team dedicated to product quality and consumer protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Food Safety Management Team and manage the HACCP program at the site.
- Champion initiatives around food safety, sanitation, microbiological control, and regulatory adherence.
- Ensure the site remains prepared for audits including corporate, customer, and regulatory inspections.
- Supervise environmental monitoring, pest control, and sanitation protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to identify risks, enhance processes, and reinforce compliance.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team while cultivating a culture centered on food safety excellence.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, Quality Management, or related field; equivalent industry experience is also considered.
- Have substantial experience in food manufacturing or similarly regulated quality leadership roles.
- Demonstrated expertise managing HACCP systems and comprehensive food safety programs.
- Experience in leading audits and regulatory inspections, driving compliance, and facilitating continuous improvements.
Required Competencies
- In-depth understanding of HACCP, GMP, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Preventive Controls.
- Expertise in food microbiology, sanitation practices, and environmental monitoring.
- Strong skills in auditing, investigative analysis, and risk assessments.
- Leadership aptitude and effective management of stakeholders.
- Proven capabilities in project management, problem-solving, and change leadership.
- Excellent verbal and technical writing skills for clear communication.
